After an interesting ride across western Turkey we have finally arrived in Cappadocia. Göreme is located ideally at the center of the region and has a number of campsites. We pick the one on the outskirts of town with a full-fledged water park (minus the water).
Although it still is rather quiet, the seasons hasn’t really started yet, there are some other guests. Giona from Switzerland and Uliana from Ukraine are traveling together to Mongolia in a 4×4 van. David is even more courageous, attempting it on a solar-powered e-tricycle.
On our first day in Cappadocia we go on a hike through Rose valley, not too far from our campsite.
The next morning we get out of bed at 5AM. Not just because we can, but to admire a daily ritual in these parts: the launch of dozens of multi-colored balloons just before sunrise. It is a breathtaking spectacle.
Since our day started so early we have a lot of time on our hands. First we’ll visit the castle in Çavuşin, near to some Fairy Chimneys. Afterwards we’ll explore Red Valley.
